 I think his sign of "wait" for his to be ready is a sign that you may have no choice but to let him go. Call now, and see how it goes, but keep in mind the possibility that you two may not come back together. The fact is, you two are not together, does it really matter who broke it off with who, when either one leads to where you are now? Instead of focusing on who? it's more important to focus on why?. It's this outcome you don't want to continue, so look into why? this relationship ended in the manner that it had. I hope this helps. Take care.
