writes: Hi---I really need help...my bf recently had a physical examination and the doctor told him that it looked like he had genital herpes, but he also had a blood test to confirm whether or not he actually has it but results haven't come in yet until next monday. I wrote him a letter saying that we seriously need to consider our future together and how it's going to be if he really has this virus. I recommended we go see couples counseling or std counseling so that we can know what to expect in the future or what it's going to be like. I included in the letter that I didn't want to get infected and that if we got married I would have an increased risk of getting it and I don't want to pass it to my children--he talked to me about the letter and he asked me if i wanted to be with him or not and I told him i didn't want to make any big decision until we 1.) saw an std counselor 2.) had the results come back from his blood test...I am confused and I don't want to break up with him, but I have to thik about our future together and I DON'T want to be infected--please, please, please help

well sweetie i think your are completely correct to react the way you have writing the letter detailing your opinionms and the options you gave him were spot on.... Where did he catch herpes if its confimed thats what he has? has he been having unprotected sex with other people?
so you stick to your guns stand firm i understand that you don't want to loose him but hello sweetie he needs to respect your views and feelings, if he loves you as much as you obviously love him then he will do as you ask visit the std clinic and get some counciling as a couple you are spot on sweetie you have to think about the bigger picture here your future and your health....
