He does the whole "its not you, it's me" thing!

Question - (2 July 2010) 0 Answers - (Newest, )
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

My boyfriend is away for two months. He has been questioning our relationship a couple times since he's been gone. He does the whole "its not you, it's me" thing and claims that since he's been gone, he's just had time to think about things.

I've done nothing but be loyal, dedicated, and love him. And he loves me too. I have brought up the idea of taking a break, for him that is. I would never want to break up with him...but I do just want him to be happy. Whenever I have mentioned it, he gets defensive and says things like, "What good would that do?" or "I have no reason to why I would want to take a break with you, I love you" but it just seems like he doesn't want to be with me.

I ask him if he's unhappy with me, and he tells me that it's nothing I do, that I'm practically perfect and I'm always amazing.

I just don't know what to do. Should I break up with him? Or should I just wait it out...

I truly feel like nothing I do is good enough, and that I do so much for him when he really does nothing for me, well, to the degree that I do for him.

Please, if someone could just help me out.
