writes: my boyfriend and i almost had sex, meaning he didn't "go all the way in" but it was there, he had a condom on, but i heard sometimes you can get pregnant cause of that? i didn't believe in that, but I've missed my period, I've missed it before, but i knew i wasn't pregnant or anything. Can this mean that i can be pregnant?? please answer soon!

reader, anonymous, writes (3 August 2009): I agree with K c100 the chances of you being pregnant are very remote, a condom is 99.9% efective if it was used correctly, of course its not 100% but the odds are most definatly in your favour! if you want to be sure buy a pregnacy test kit, they are relativly cheap and can be bought form chemists and and even most supermarkets, they are very simple to use, (you just wee on a stick!) and will give you an answer in under five minuets, at least that way you will know for sure one way or another and put you mind a rest. good luck and don't worry.

Unless the condom came off or broke in any way then the chances of you being pregnant are almost non-existent! The only way you could get pregnant would be if he ejaculated whilst inside you and some of that escaped either through the condom coming off or if there was a tear in the condom. Pre-ejaculate also contains sperm so even if he didnt ejaculate there is still a chance there could have been a tiny amount of fluid that came out.
But if you are sure that the condom didnt come off and there was no split in it then the chances of you being pregnant are very small. If you are really worried then take a pregnancy test, seen as you have already missed your period then if you were pregnant it would show up on a test.
