He claims he isn't trying to salvage his marriage but am I wasting my time?

A female United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

He claims that he is not trying to salvage their marriage; but he seems to be bending over backwards to appease his wife. She wants everything switched over into her name and he does so without any hesitation. She says it's because of me and I might try to take him for everything he's worth. I told him he was a Dumb ass and she's preparing to file for a divorce and take him for everything he is worth because of our affair. Am I right to draw the conclusions I have drawn or is he right to assume she's trying to move forward without him and not trying to cause him any harm?

We have been together for a couple of years and have two children together, since finding out she has attacked my character in more ways than one and has insisted on blaming me for the failure of her marriage; when in fact I wasn't the first affair, I was one of many; but the first to have his children. I feel at times that I am wasting my time and he reassures me that I am not and I find it hard to please two women. I want to move on, but feel like a failure, due too having so many failed relationships in the past. I feel desparate at times and I have tried different tactics, self-evaluations, etc, but keep getting the same results.

Anon. Pardon me if I sound like a "Dutch Uncle", but you made a serious mistake when you got involved with a married man. I don't care that he said his marriage was 'over'. Many men say this, and may really mean it, but, the LAW does not consider their marriage over until a final divorce settlement. I sympathise with you because of your children. I do feel for them. But, "frankly, my dear", I do not sympathise with you. Sorry. You are a grown woman and should have more judgement.
