A female United States age , anonymous writes:

My husband is suffering from erectile dysfunction. He has been to many doctors, including a urologist, neurologist, , you name it. After many diagnostic tests, it seems that nothing physical can be found. He used to have full erections almost daily. Now nothing. Although he can get hard, he cannot maintain enough for intercourse. What can we do at this point?

Hi, I'm The OP

Thanks very much for your suggestions. They are very kind, and helpful. Here is some additional info.

-I really don't think, he is watching porn, actually I suggested to watch some, but he didn't get turned on ,or get any erection from it.

-His hormones are perfect, and he tried some testosterone earlier, just to give a try, but the doctor felt it was not helping.

-Viagra does not do too much, cause he has no desire, and also, it just gives him lots of side-effects

-no he is not interested to masturbate. it was actually recommended to him to try it, but it does not give him any sexual charge.

-what is really weird , he has strong morning erections,or night erections and his health is perfect. he just dont feel sexual, and never able to finish an intercourse, as he is losing it right after, he is inside.

-he also losing it from blowjob...

I know it is very difficult and weird. If anybody ever heard about anything like this, I would love to hear it.

Thanks

All these suggestions are spot on. I would say the 'ED' from watching too much porn could even stand for emotional detachment. Viagra is definitely worth a consideration and the penis pump is another very good aid. A healthy lifestyle is a good way to refresh the system and leave no stone unturned. Plenty of vegetables and fruit and plenty of exercise - the whole effort all-round will kick in the endorphins and psychological feelings of self confidence. All this and acting out favourite sexual positions/ fantasies will increase desire.

And if you have kids- lose them for a weekend!! Go on a retreat and focus on relaxed, healthy intimacy.

eddie85 agony auntMany guys in their 40's and 50's suffer with this problem. It sounds like you've run the gamut with the doctors, but here are my suggestions in case they've missed something:

1) If you hasn't tried Viagra or a similar medication, he should definitely try these. Urologists are likely to proscribe these so I am going to assume you've tried these.

2) Have him see an endocrinologist and have them check his testosterone. Many men in their 40's lose this hormone and their ability to have a sex drive and maintain an erection can be compromised. Perhaps his general doctor can run this test as well or put him on a trial dose.

3) Is he over weight? Does he smoke? Is he out of shape? These traits can affect a man's ability to have an erection. Also if he rides a bicycle, the seat can damage the nerves in his perineum that can lead to erectile problems.

4) Is he overly stressed with his home life or work life? These distractions can affect a man's love life.

5) Does he consume a lot of soy products? Soy / tofu in large doses can produce a lot of estrogen -- estrogen is the enemy of testosterone. Some men are more sensitive to it than others.

It sounds like he is interested in solving the problem as well, which is a positive. Many men are embarrassed by the condition. Hopefully you'll get to the bottom of his problem.

Failing a solution to his problem, hopefully you can maintain your sex life via oral sex or manual stimulation. Just because he can't have an erection doesn't mean your sex life is over. You just have to get a bit more creative in regards to it.

A male reader, hardnut United States +, writes (5 March 2013):

there are medical penis pumps and rings to help this. Simply pump it up slip the ring over and its hard til lyou take the ring off. Might give you the best you have ever had. Ask your dr for a RX for the tool.

NO pills no side effects and hard for hours if you let it.

Does he masturbate to porn alot? Sometimes that causes ED. Tell him to stop and reboot his system, so he can get turned on by normal stimulus.
