He borrowed bus money, then said he loved me... does he likes me?

There's this boy I really like at school. We're quite good friends and I'm wondering how to take it alittle further. Today (this might sound a little sad) he was in my double lesson, Media Studies. We were all waiting outside for the teacher to arrive and he came and stood really close to me, which I loved. Also, as we were getting into bus queues to go home, he asked if he could borrow 60p for the bus home, I gave it to him and he said thanks, I'll pay you back tomorrow (don't worry he is very trustworthy) and I said, ok.

Then he said, 'I love you, bye!'

I can barely believe it. Obviously he's most likely saying it in the way friends do. I asked my best friend and she thinks I should ask him out. she thinks there's a good sign he likes me and I'm just worried he doesn't like me like that. Also, I feel I can't ask him because I can be quite shy at times.

I'd appreciate any feedback.

I think just asking him straight out would be a mistake. Think if he said no, how awkward would that be? And if he said yes, i mean, are you sure you're 100% happy with it all, if he did say yes?

If you are 100% sure you'd want to date him, go for it. But be clever. Don't just ring him up and go "errr wanna go out?"

If you arn't sure, why not try a little harmless flirting? If he flirts back, it means either he likes you or he's just a flirt. Which sounds more like him?

If he doesn't, it means he either doesn't like you (worst luck!) or he's clueless.

Hope i helped a bit - I'm fairly young too, so i'm not exactly certain.

You just need to get to know him a bit more. Spend a bit more time with him at school and get his number or his msn. If there is a chemistry it will soon become apparent =]
