Hi there thanks for your answers, no am not doing it myself or being lied to, at least i dont think so lol

I was reading some of the questions on here and found 1 saying that a girl had her boyfriend say it then didnt have anymore contact with her.

I'm a curious person thats all lol

Me myself i have never said it when i didn't mean it, its something that shouldn't be said if you dont feel it, it only leads to more heartache in the long run.

Thanks guys and i'm always interested in what yous have to say.

bayleex agony auntI told my ex for the last 3 months of our relationship I loved him. I was hoping that I would change my mind and actually love him but we had grown apart.

Tisha-1 agony auntI have only ever said it when I really meant it, but that's just because I couldn't get those words out if I didn't really love them romantically. That's just me, it doesn't me a saint or anything like that. I've lied about other things, but for some reason, that one I couldn't do.

There are probably many reasons why people would say it when they don't mean it in a romantic sense. Lust, wanting to mean it but just not feeling it yet, or maybe they mean it in a platonic sense, as in "I love you, but I'm not in love with you."

Who knows? You've asked one of the tough questions and I hope you're not being hurt or lied to, or that you're not lying to anyone yourself.

Take care!

A female reader, O Connor Ireland +, writes (16 February 2008):

O Connor agony auntyes i have, years ago though. i guess some people think they should say it because its the right thing to do, others may think that they do actually love this person. other people simply say it because they are expecting something magical to happen when they say it, they expect it to be special and get caught up in the fantasy. i've learned though, that none of this compares to the first time you can say it and know that you mean it with all your heart. if you dont feel it dont say it, you may think that saying it spares someone else's feelings, but lying about something like that will only crush them in the future. good luck

A male reader, rcn United States +, writes (16 February 2008):

rcn agony auntYes, a long time ago. I don't do so anymore because of the maturity level age give you. The reason being back then is the expectation behind it. If she says I love you, and the guy doesn't return the words, often she'll feel as if he's rejecting her.
