Oh, I think you're in the clear. I think you've been going out long enough. My boyfriend and I said it after three or four months! Now, a year n' a half later, we're still saying it to each other. Even if he doesn't say it back when you say it the first time, I know he's going to love that you said it. It will make him more comfortable for when HE decides to say it.
I think you should go for it. I think the time is right and I think he will be really happy to hear it from you.

Take the bull by the horns lovely and tell him now !
