The hymen is RARELY a complete, solid tissue, but a band of tissues that narrow the opening of the vagina. Here's what different hymens can look like:

Rarely is the hymen full, or "imperforate", and a small incision has to be made by a Doctor in minor surgery to let the menstrual flow out. If you can insert a tampon, then yours is a normal hymen, and it might be stretched by a tampon, but it's probably still as intact as it was before. Regardless, you are still a virgin with or without the presence of a hymen, until you have sex with a man, so don't worry about it!

Doing anything can damage your hymen, riding bikes, going on a horse, doing high kicks in dancing and yes, using tampons.
It doesn't mean you aren't a virgin though so please don;t worry about that and no boy will be able to tell the difference.
Back in the day girls did nothing more exciting than embroidery so their hymens were expected to be in tact and bleed on their wedding night.
For modern girls virginity is purely about whether you have let a boy stick his penis in you.
Don't worry about it.
Good Luck!! xx

Although some girls never have one in the first place, I didn't.
