I have made more than him almost the entire time we've been married. He never initiates anything! not even sex. Stop initiating things then he will be forced to step up to the mark.
However if the first thing you do is say 'oh no you should be doing it like that'... don't bother.
You need to give him a bit of slack even if it means the shelves being put up crooked.
He is low in confidence you are the tall tree with all the leaves, he needs some sunlight to grow.
