I'll admit it, I am asking this question because misery loves company. A few days ago a cute guy that works at a coffee shop I go to said "Hey beautiful" when I got to the counter. I have been spending far too much of my energy ever since reminding myself that it's his job to be nice and when he flirts he gets better tips. I thought he was cute before that but when he said that it I got butterflies in my stomach like a stupid 12 year old. I feel frustrated that I would even read into something so little but I can't get it out of my head lol.

Anyways, now that I have gotten that out of my system...

Do other people fall for workers at stores etc? Or are you yourself one of those flirty workers? Or neither...

Fatherly Advice agony auntHey Beautiful,

I bet you just don't hear that often enough. Wouldn't it be great if people could complement each other with out it being flirting, or working for a tip. If it's good to be courteous and friendly for business, wouldn't it be just as good to be courteous and friendly in everyday situations. I find that it smooths out life a lot when I can do it.

My advice to your specific situation is, Smile at him, graciously thank him for the compliment, and tip him fairly. I would be pretty certain that there are rules about him directly asking customers to meet elsewhere so that isn't going to happen there.

While I'm a little bit old to be falling for people I meet, I do appreciate service people who are good at their jobs. I tend to remember their names and faces and send my business their way.

YouWish agony auntA coffee shop worker doesn't usually get much in tips. He was flirting with you! He might have been doing it because flirting is fun, OR he might really be looking forward to your visits!

Did you find out something about him as in he has a girlfriend already?

I have been in sales all my life. Being really nice and personable is enough to bring in sales. Flirting isn't a standard sales tactic. Some use it, but most don't have to.

My guess is that he called you beautiful because you are! Just flirt back and have fun! :)
