Guy from the dating site hasn't talked to me in 5 days. Should I text him?

A female United States age 41-50, *afe writes:

Hello!

I've been debating about texting this guy just to say Happy Thanksgiving. So I'd like to hear opinions if I should or shouldn't. Here is the story; we chatted a couple of times on an online dating site. He said that he would like to meet me soon, so we exchanged phone numbers. The last time we chatted was last Wednesday night and he was leaving Friday to California to visit with his family for Thanksgiving. I texted him to wish him a safe trip, and he texted me back next day "Thanks, talk to you soon." This text was last Saturday, 5 days ago. I have been online at the dating site and I have seen him online too, but he has not contacted me. I don't want to appear desperate, so I haven’t contact him either for the last 5 days.

I know that this online dating is about talking to several people, then making a decision, so I'm not having issues with him being online communicating with other people, as I’ve been doing the same thing. I do feel a little awkward that he has not dropped me a line the last 5 days, but somehow I am don’t feel upset about it because we haven't meet yet. However, I feel like he could be the one, and I would like to stay in touch with him. So, I was just wondering if it would be appropriate to send him a text just saying Happy Thanksgiving. Would it make me look like I am desperate?

P.S. I would like to add that I did not text him back after he said “Thanks, talk to you soon” so, he was the last one texting.

Don't chase him ! If he is interested, he will be getting in touch and pursuing you. Focus on other prospects. It's too early to think he might be the one!

Don't be nervous. It is a simple, non threatening thing to say. It is friendly, and isn't going to seem obsessive by the least. The only way to find out if someone likes you, is by speaking to them =) Good Luck, and I hope things end up in your favor =)

Mafe agony auntThank you for your prompt response Honeypie. I decided to text him and he just replied "Happy Thanksgiving to you too" so, I guess he is either polite or still interested. We’ll see! I’ll keep you posted.

Honeypie agony auntI think he is busy with family. Though a text saying Happy Thanksgiving is not sounding needy or anything. I just wouldn't expect for him to take time away from his family to sit and text you.
