writes: Hi, I have a question about bleeding during sex. I'm a 20yr old girl who was in a relationship for about a year and a half, during this time my partner and I were regularly having sex. Sometimes if we hadn't had intercourse for a while, I would bleed during sex and maybe for a few days after. We broke up about 5 months ago and up until last week I had no sexual contact with anyone. When I slept with this person for the first time, I bled during, and then after for almost a week (not continuously and there wasn't much blood but there would be some in my knickers). I do not get a period with my pill, and I feel no pain or discomfort down there. I slept with this person once more and again bled.I don't sleep around and wondered could this be because I have not been having sex regularly and so, like the first time you have sex, women can bleed, perhaps its a similar situation? I'm nervous because I'm not sure if this happens to anyone else or not, so please give me some advice! Thanks.

It is probably an effect of being on a birth control that prevents your period. I have heard of girls bleeding or spotting while on the pill when they have sexual contact.
You should most definitely talk to your doctor though, just in case it is something more serious. Schedule an appointment soon, and find out for sure what is happening.
Good luck!

First of all, don't worry! Many women bleed during sex.
It could a various number of things..
The first I would think could of been the position of the sexual activity, maybe it was too rough and you may be very delicate?
I have had this situation before and i went to my doctors about it, i would reccomend that. explain everything that has happened and see what's going on.
but don't worry! it's common.
good luck
