I have a thyroid problem and Polycystic ovarian syndrome so it is almost impossible for me to loose weight and when I do I gain it all back. I have been on various weight loss programs nothing worked and I was going to the gym 5 days a week and eating balanced meals...still nothing. I weigh 308 pounds even though I don't look it and I am 5'7''. I am debating whether to get gastric bypass done or the lap band system because I am sick of being like this. Please help!

Also consider that you are very young and the sudden weight loss from lap band will make you thinner, and help you out in the areas where weight can be problematic. But do keep in mind that the sudden weight loss will also result in you having a great deal of extra skin that will not go away easily. This happens because your skin doesn't have the chance to keep up with the rapid weight loss, and instead of stretch marks, you get.... well... lots of loose skin.I say this because it can be very shocking. My cousin who is only 22 had this done and now she has so much excess skin, she is still depressed about her looks although she's lost 180 pounds. Now she wants plastic surgery to remove the skin, but that much surgery can be very dangerous.I recommend that you view the documentary by MTV True Life, the episode where they follow a young man who had the surgery and his difficulties with the excess skin. I say this not to be shallow but because it is true, to be different in such a way is not easy no matter your age.

This is a medical problem that you need to go over with your doctor. She/He and she/he alone can best advice on this. You might consider looking around for testimonials for it as well.
Good luck.
