Cowboy had said that if I had told anyone that he would be pissed and never talk to me agin. now everyone knows and I dont know what to do. he did not hear about it till he heard about it form me. a girl from a younger grade saw us at the game. he called me last night and I told him somebody saw us and he said to say it was a rumor going around and that its not true. I told him that it would not be that easy (considering that I already admitted to it) and he said to just say that. so at lunch today J called me over and asked me if I kissed cowboy and I didnt answer. she got pissed and then told Savanah everything (Savanah is my friend and has acctually dated cowboy before we got together, she hates him now) Savanah told me how the rumor had got twisted and then she told me somthing that absolutly does not sit with me well...over the summer he and J had sex multipul times and she had developed an obession with him and now she is angry cause I kissed him and is talking shit. I dont know what to do I wrote Cowboy a letter telling him that I can not keep everything in the dark and it is up to him where we go from here. I dont know what he will say and I'm not so sure it matters anymore. J called me a "Nasty Whore" but it is the other way around, considering she has slept with MULTIPUL partners. I dont know if I would want to have sex with Cowboy after he has already been with J cause that would just be like me having sex with her.  If you (and he!) didn't want people to know, I guess the two of you should have picked a place less public than a basketball game to make out. Well, the word is out now and knowing high school gossip, there's nothing you can do about it. So just try to ignore it and it will die down eventually.
Even barring the issues of friends with benefits-type relationship, I think there are some valid reasons you should not get with this guy. It sounds like at least two of your friends have been involved with him, and that one is obsessed and the other hates him. Neither is going to like it if you hook up with him and if you choose to pursue him nevertheless they will probably take anger/jealousy out on you. Are you ready for that?
The second issue is the one you raise about "J" being a "nasty whore." Well, if she has been around and Cowboy has slept with her then Cowboy may as well have been around himself. And, if I may be frank with you, he probably has. If you get involved with this guy, make sure he wears a condom, and make sure you're okay with the idea of being neither the first nor the last in a line of girls he slept with, no strings attached.
