writes: hiya i need help and its a kinda embarrassing questioni went with some advice on here to try tampons. so i went on the tampax website to give me advice on how to use them. I found my vagina opening (the bottom part were u get the period) and it had a junky bit of skin round it. I've already had my period once before, they're are tiny holes in the part of the skin but the skin is very thick and im not sure this is normal please help ?

reader, anonymous, writes (20 December 2006): Sometimes the hymen is very thick and almost covers up the opening, but for a few small holes in it. Maybe you can see your GP and ask him to cut/remove the hymen under a local aneasthetic if it is preventing you from wearing tampons.

Ask your Gp, they can give you a guided tour. But don't worry about it, all vaginas look different just like noses and toes....

Maybe its the hymen??? I hear when its a perforated hymen, there's holes in it. Dont know about thickness though

Well, the best thing I could see to do is for you to have a pap smear done by a doctor. If there is something abnormal in any way, the doctor will be able to tell you. Its probably completely normal and you have nothing to worry about but just from a short discription it is impossible to advise you.
