I would like to know if any of you have heard of someone like me (a North American with no European roots) who was able to live in Spain for a substantial amount of time? Other than as a student? Do any of you know of a way for me to do it legally? I realize how difficult it is, but I don't want to give up, even though I'm feeling very discouraged. Here's the thing... I've wanted to go there ever since I was 2 years old, and I'm going later this year to study. I'm going to get my EFL certificate over there, but I will only have a month or so, three months at max, and then I'll have to leave. At first I was thrilled that I was going to be going there for a little while, and I still am. However the more I read about Spain, the more I fall in love with it. It makes me sad to think that this is probably the only time I'll ever go in my lifetime, and I'll only have three months. I'm grateful I have a little time there, I would give anything just to spend one day there, but what makes me so sad is that I never had a sense of belonging in my own country. I always felt like I was meant to be latin (yes people in Spain are latinos, as are people in any Spanish speaking country :) ) and not North American. Nothing wrong with American, my heart is just not here. Of course I would NEVER do anything illegal but I would like to know how someone like me could legally stay there for a substantial amount of time?I can take an honest answer. I imagine many people will tell me it's going to be impossible or really difficult, but let me say that I already know that... if it were easy I would just go there. If you can help me... gracias de antemano (thanks ahead of time)---------Mod note: this is a follow up to previous postings e.g.http://www.dearcupid.org/question/my-friends-say-i-shouldnt-close-the-door.htmlhttp://www.dearcupid.org/question/i-had-my-heart-set-on-a-handsome-Latino.htmlhttp://www.dearcupid.org/question/im-going-to-spain-but-i-am-scared.html------------ Reply to this Question Share |

Do some research, get a job, and go. What is stopping you?
Good Luck!! xx
PS. In my experience Spanish people call themselves Spanish, not Latin. I have only ever heard Americans calling people Latin. Oh, except in Barcelona, they HATE being called Spanish, they call themselves Catalan. The only Latin we refer to here in Europe is the language that the Romans spoke.
