Feelings real? Or just liking the attention of the ex?

Question - (9 March 2009) 1 Answers - (Newest, 10 March 2009)
A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Me and my ex dated for 4 months, three years ago and I've been with my current boyfriend for a year and a half. Me and my ex always avoided seeing eachother but a few days ago we met unexpectedly, and since then my feelings have been all up in the air.

Me and the ex split because we both thought we were too young to have a proper relationship at that time and thought it best to leave it, so it wasn't like we broke up because of anything bad on either end, just a mutual agreement.

Anyway, since we saw eachother, we've been talking a lot and he admitted that he still liked me and he wish we never broke up those three years ago and thinks about me all the time etcetc.

It's put me in a very awkward position, seeing as the relationship with the boyfriend I have now isnt exactly the best (arguments, threats to leave me, obsessive/possessive tendancys)

I guess what I'm trying to ask is, what should I do?!

I love my boyfriend, but as things arent working out I dont know if I'm just liking the attention of my ex? Or are my feelings real?

A female reader, groovgal United States +, writes (10 March 2009):

The reason you are feeling these feelings for your ex is not because you miss your ex, but because the relationship you are in now is not a strong enough relationship. You do not feel stable with your current boyfriend, so the attention you get from someone else makes you feel good, so you mistake it for missing him. You dont, you just need to get out of the relationship you are in. If you really loved the person you were with, you would not be feeling these feelings for anyone.
