"You never realize what you have until its gone" Such a powerful quote, for people who have experienced this type of loss. Think about it, having something so good that you cant even appreciate it until its no longer there. Dont you think that is such a scary concept? Actually having this thing and not knowing what to do with it? Missing out on all the joy it could have brought to you if you would have just opened your eyes. What leads us to not surrender ourselves in such wonders? Is it fear? Fear of opening ourselves up so much that it leaves us defenseless? Is it the risk taking? Or is it simply that we are not paying attention to it?

The loss of this kind is so emotionally catastrophic because in someway the true loss was our fault. We missed out on something that could have made a difference in our life in some shape or form. People who have felt this type of loss know that the pain doesnt go away as easily as if it was a normal loss. Though it might feel the same your mind is effected even more. We blame ourselves, we suffer from regret, we are constantly over-analysing our actions. Dont we realize the emotional overload we will face once we do realize its gone? Now we the "sufferer's" of this blindness are left to ask ourselfs the "what if" questions. Which would have been answered if we would have just realized what we had infront of us all along.

We suffer from this emotional burden that weighs so heavy on our conscious, heart and soul. We do eventually overcome this hurt however, with a scar which we will always wear. I write this to you not for answers but for reflection on your actions. Maybe if we are conscious of what makes us suffer this type of loss we can prevent future scars.

A great article, well composed and thought out.

Top marks =)

Oh and yea your right. Many of us do wander through life taking things for granted, it's almost a part of life now. Society as it is today has spoilt us in so many riches and has removed us of our sentimental values, such as i beleive our predeccsors had. Such luxuries as Love and compassion have been left for the movies to capture, as i sure as hell don't see it in life.
