writes: this up comming fathers day is my husbands very first ever. i have no idea what to get him. every holiday i get him tools, he loves them dont get me wrong. but i dont want to be so obvious, and ruin to much of a good thing. Go into a general merchandise store, you know one that has everything, and let your child go and pick somethign out. Because it is Father's Day, so it's really the little kid who should give the gift. And it would probably be something so goofy and cute and weird, and not at all what he needs, but think of how he'd treasure it.
Save your brain power for a birthday or anniversery.

I do agree with Steve a bit. Fathers day is not nearly so important to the guys. On the other hand I am a bit bummed out this year. I had to buy my own because my wife was to busy. Takes the fun out of getting a gift. I like stuff for my barbecue grill this time of year. Also boating gear (I don't fish). I would rather buy my own ties, but shirts would be OK (I read that fathers day was practically made by mens clothing retailers). It really is the thought that counts, which is why I am not so happy even though I overspent on my self. Got a GPS for hiking.
