Father was jailed and now back to his old ways

my father was in jail for 16 years and just got out a few months ago and is back to his old ways again. I'm scared to lose him again. we just started reconnecting after i stopped talking to him. He does not realize why I'm so upset with him. i told him how i feel about the things he does but i feel like he is choosing his old horrible life over his own daughter. he lost me once before, why is he threatening our new relationship over money?
