The Realist agony auntIn the end you have to do this for you so if you like him I would say yes. It would also be polite to ask your friend, if you two are close if she is ok with you dating this person. If she says no then you have to make the choice if he is worth it or not to possibly lose the friendship but the friend should be thankful that you would think of their feelings too.

Do what feels right for you. You have no accountability to your ex. His friend however does, and is obviously choosing dating you. It's kind that you are considering your ex, but you need to live your life for you.
