A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

My boyfriend and I have bee together for 4 yrs. most recently we had a huge fight and decided to go our seperate ways, because he dosent have a job and I my own bills and cant always help him when he needs it. I am 21 and hes 22 and both us are used to get our way with each other and or parents. Lately hes been hanging with his friends all day. Seriously but whenever I call him he picks up and we spend the evenings and nights together more then often. I really dont think hes cheating on me because he has done it before but I wouldnt put it past him but when is he so distant. We said mean things to each other but I felt we have made up since then.Im confused not sure what to do and everytime I give him the option of breaking up he tells me that he dosent want that and if I wanna leave him do it. But when i tried last night as soon as he left me he was calling saying that he wanted to come back over. Please tell me what I should do!!!!!!1

I think you should end it. It sounds to me like he's using you because you're earning money and he's not. It might be hard to find a job at the moment, but he needs to get his own life in order before he can make a decent boyfriend. As it is, you seem to be paying all the bills while he does very little with his life. He needs to sort his own life. Don't be a mother to him.
