Hi,

This is more of a health question was wondering if anyone else had the same symptons or had expierienced them.

Basically i take the contraceptive pill, the one were you take it for 21 days and then take a gap for 7 days and have your period. I've been on the pill for about 5 years now. Just recently i've been noticing that the day i am due to take my new pack of pills or the day after i get very emotional and depressed. I get quite paranoid as well and often take it out on my boyfriend e.g if he goes out on these days i get very paranoid that he will cheat or he doesnt want to be with me. We do not have trust issues in our relationships and he agrees that i am completley out of character on these days and that i would never normally be so emotional or put doubt on our relationship. I feel like i am going crazy! It's getting to the point where its starting to affect our relationship because he's getting tired of dealing with it every month. I am wondering if it is connected to my pill? Are my hormones plummiting making me feel depressed and then the pill balances me back out? I hope someone else is having the same thing! I feel like a crazy lady!

Thanks

Cat

A female reader, Angzw Zimbabwe +, writes (19 February 2010):

Talk to your doctor about skipping the sugar pills and carrying on immediately to the next pack for every 3 packs. You won't have a period for 2 or 3 months and your hormones will remain stable. Soldiers in war zones do this for as much as 6 months or more. But talk to your daughter or nurse first and see if its ok.

yes thats definately what it is any time you take a birth control pill that contains both oestrogen and progesterone it usaually will trigger a phase of depression its normal and you are not the only person who has or will experience that there are other types of bith control pills that does not contain the two factors and wont trigger one another i am a registered nurse so i know a little bit of what im talking about.talk to your dr. and try other methods of birth control and he or she will find something that will work well with your mental state of mind. good luck sweetie
