Emergency net for an ex-girlfriend

A male United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

Hello all,

I would like to thank you for the time you will spend reading this and I look forward to reading your responses.

My ex girlfriend and I have been on and off for about 3 years now. Unfortunately, I would always be the one to set off the off portion of the relationship. One could say that I was very selfish, and battling a major depression.

Unfortunately, one occasion I left her for another woman. This is just a little insider information to get some background.

This last time that we were together we were together for a little over a year and half. Unfortunately, due to my depression I was very controlling and wanted things my way. I would not do very many things, and did not approve of many of her things. Therefore, she would do what I wanted to please me. In the end, this ended up hurting our relationship to the point which I am in now...Single.

Therefore, I am coming to ask you all for your help. We split up about 5 months ago, and I have not seen her nor had there been any communication until a recent time frame.

Fortunately, I exchanged my contact information and we have spoken since. We have gone out on several occasions since then. For most men, they would care about the sex. Yes, we have had sex in the times we have seen each other but I am looking for more than just that.

Sex will come and go. I must say that I did not have sex during the time that we were apart. She claims to not have done so either.

This brings me to the point where I am now. She claims to be confused in some aspects. She wants to have fun with out a boyfriend but at the same time hangs out with me and we have sex. I must include that she is partaking in a dating website. We saw each other a couple of days ago and she mentioned the next time this and that. If she obviously had no intentions she wouldn't mention that.

I am just really confused as to what she may want. I do not want to come on too strong and scare her away. I obviously have feelings for her, and it seems the same way in return. Unfortunately, the past is not helping me and I feel as if it is hindering me to the maximum.

What I would like to know is: Is she using me to pass the time? Does she still have feelings for me? Is she on the site looking and rather have me in the meantime? Kissing passionately obviously implies an attractive passion for a person.

I have no clue.

Please ask me any questions and I will go ahead and answer you.

Once again, thank you for your time. I hope to hear from you all soon as I am tired of being hurt and worried that I am being used and just taking up space for now.

She told me that she does not want anyone to get hurt from this ordeal. We spoke and she said that she enjoys being with me and that the sex is great, but she is not sure if she wants more than that at this moment. I believe there may be someone else, but I am unsure.

I want to know what the best solution for me is, and if I should remain friends with her. We did not speak for months, and we have been talking for some time now. Should I remain friends or just do no contact and wait for her to decide as she told me to do if I could not handle the friends ordeal and taking it day by day.
