He never would wear a condom, so we've been using a spermicidal gel along with him pulling out and going on my stomach. Is there any info out there on the effectiveness of these two methods together? I am going back on the pill soon but hope I'm not doing anything extremely risky here.

I would imagine there is not a lot of information regarding the pull out method since there are many factors than can contribute to its effectiveness. Spermicidal gel can help, but I am not sure of its effectiveness either. You'll have to read the label of the product you are using.
I can talk about why the pull out method is ineffective, but I'm on my phone and those explanations can get quite long. If you wish to know more, send me a PM and I will answer it when I get home.
But most importantly, you need to be certain you are willing to accept your ex being the father of your child. Not that it absolutely WILL happen, but it definitely CAN happen. Not only that, but if you do end up pregnant, are YOU willing to deal with your ex for the next 18 years? That's a long time to have to deal with someone you don't like anymore.
Hope this helps.
