Don't EVER feel stupid for asking such questions. Especially since you are smart enough and curios enough to ask which equals informed which equals improved/the celing's the limit sex life for you.
That being said, once you try being on top, you may never want to try another position again (at least for a while anyway) because for most females this is the main way to initiate an orgams for youself and CONTROl your orgasm. The other positions you mention mainly put him in charge.
