writes:OK, I am really confused.About more than a month ago, I started this new waitress job at a new restaurant.I worked with this guy who got hired, along with his brother. I will call this guy Neon. I will call his brother Sam.Anyway, I was fine working with them the first few days. On the third day of my job, however, something changed. You see, business was slow that day, so the Neon and Sam would just talk a lot. I am a very quiet person, so I never tried making conversation with them unless it was about work (because I always want to learn from them). So both of them were talking, they were only a few feet away from me. Neon started talking to me about my college, and asking questions like, "So what college do you go to, what year are you, and, what are you majoring in?"I politely answered him, asked him the same questions, and that was that. I didn't give a two cents about them (even though I always get super nervous around guys - specially ones that are my age, and smart). Then, Neon left to go sit at the front desk. Sam was just by me. He then said, "Can I ask you a question?" Please don't mind.I said ok. He basically asked me if I liked Neon. I said, "WHAT"?He told me that Neon always talks about me, and doesn't stop. He said that Neon likes me, and wanted to know what I felt about him.I said, "Um, neon never acted like he liked me though."Sam said, "That's because he's like that. He is my brother, I know him. "The day before this happened, there was an incident at work where another waiter who is friends with them, asked me to choose which brother is cuter. That too in front of the brothers! I never answered , because I didn't know what to say. Then I decided to ask all 3 of them who they think is the prettiest between me , and the other 2 waitresses that were hired. The waiter chose me out of all the girls, Sam chose me out of all the girls, Neon chose me out of one of the girls, but not out of the other girl, and said "That's because I know the other girl, so I choose her."ANYWAY, So I had asked Sam, "Neon didn't even choose me out of one of the girls, so how could he like me? He does not act like it."Sam said, "because he wanted to make you jealous! That is how guys are!"Then, Sam asked a dumb question. He asked, "Who would you choose out of me and my brother, come on, I told you already that I would choose you out of all other 2 girls. I said, "I am not going to answer that. " Then, He said, "OK, well, do you think Neon is cute? I could hook you up with him." I said, " I like him as a friend, I never thought about it. " Sam said, "Ok, you can take your time and let me know later."At that time, Neon was staring right at both of us from across the room. Sam even said, "Look, he is looking right at you. He likes you." I just ran to the other area, because I was blushing.The rest of that day I acted kind of stupid, almost like I didn't care that Neon "liked" me or not. I still was not believing it. I was a little more playful, such as talking more, but I was not nervous around Neon or anything. About 3 days later, I realized that I think Neon is cute. I dressed up really well that day for work. Neon didn't say hi to me that morning though, which was unusual , because he would always say hi. Then Sam came up to me and said, "You're looking really beautiful today." I said thanks...and thought it was wierd because Neon NEVER compliments me...only Sam is brave enough to even come and talk to me. Neon never does....He only says Hi, but even stopped that.If Neon likes me, wouldn't he be the one doing that and not Sam? That is why in the beginning I used to feel that maybe Sam likes me. I was so shocked when Sam told me that Neon "likes" me.So at the end of work that day, I was getting ready to leave. Sam came up to me and was talking to me about something casual. I then asked him, "Hey, you know what you said about your brother liking me the other day, well, is it true?Sam said, "I don't know."I thought, "WHAT?"I asked, "What do you mean I don't know? Is what all you told me not true or something?"Sam said, "Yeah, yeah, it's true.Sam said, Why, you like him?I said, "Yeah."With a slightly dull expression, Sam said, "I'll let him know."Then I just left, and I saw him talking to Neon from the corner of my eye.The next day , I was scheduled to work only with Neon. I saw him in the morning in the kitchen. We both said hi at the same time with a smile, and I guess he looked at me a bit. That was that. We just kept working, and he didn't say a word about anything.The whole day he didn't say anything, he was just really quiet.So I thought, "Ok, I guess either this was a big joke, or that he did like me at first but changed his mind."So then I just kept going on with my job. I was pissed off at times because I felt humiliated. I mean, I started liking Neon after hearing that he "apparently" liked me. It didn't seem like it . He actually got even quieter, and would never even say hi to me anymore. When I finally saw Sam again, at first I wanted to tell him off, but then I just brushed it off and stayed quiet.Sam never mentioned anything about his brother , or that he told him what I said.Nothing..Then about two weeks later, I didn't bring my car to work. Neon noticed that and asked me at work about it. I said, "Yeah, I didn't have the car today."Then he asked questions like, "So, when does your college start again? What do you do in your spare time? "Do you like movies? Harry Potter? I am planning to go today after work, but I will have to go alone because my friends all have work today. I said, Oh I see...After work I was just standing outside the door, and he came out and said, "You waiting for a ride?" I said No. He said, "I can give you a ride." I got really happy and said ok.We were in the car. His first comment was, "You're very shy, huh? So silent, don't talk much...I said, "Well, at first I am but later I talk more." Then I said, "you're quiet too." He said, "yeah I am."Then he started talking about his friends, etc. He again said,"I'm going to see Harry Potter today..but I will go alone. All my friends are busy." I said, "I love Harry Potter...that sounds so fun." HE said, "yeah, so , what are you doing today? " I said, "Nothing..'He said, "yeah , I am going to the theater right by this city." (he lives about 30 miles away from where we work). I said, "Oh, really...that's really cool. It sounds like a lot of fun.."Then we both were just really quiet...didn't know what to say. My house came then...and we both were still quiet. I really wanted him to ask me out...but he didn't. I wanted to say, "Can I come," but didn't have the courage. So then I just said thank you for the ride...and he said "No problem." After that, during work, he was still pretty quiet, but talked a bit more...But the most he talked was the day he was talking about the movie . He talked to me a lot at work that day..About a week later, I didn't have the car available again. It was the end of work, and I was sitting on the chair. This time, both Sam and Neon were at work with me. Sam immediately said, "Neon is going to give you a ride home." I said, "No its ok, he must be busy." Neon said, "I'm not busy.....so you want a ride or not?"I said, "Ok, sure."First they both went out so Sam could smoke, and they said they will be back in 2 minutes .They came back, and I was ready to go.I was in the car again with Neon. It was a dream come true for me, because by this point I really had a crush on him. He started driving. I thanked him for a drawing he let me keep . (You see, the day before, I saw a drawing he was working on, and I didn't know he did it. I asked Sam who's drawing is it, and Sam said it's Neon's. I simply asked Neon if I could keep the drawing. Neon said, Yeah, I'm working on it..."He took it back. The next morning, however, the drawing was neatly placed on a table where I always go to, with his signature on it. I was like, "wow, He remembered that I wanted it.)"So anyway, I told him , "Yeah, I hung the drawing up on my wall." Neon just had a grin.....Then he asked if I liked dumplings, because he had to get special food for the restaurant, so he also got some for the owner's son and me. Since I am vegetarian, he got me something different, and said, "yeah, you can eat it with the sauce in there." I thanked him for that.Then he immediately said, "I never saw the movie, by the way. I had to work again that evening." I thought, "Ok? HE remembered to talk about the movie again.Then he talkd about his friends again. He said, "I need to take my friends out to different places because they are all transferring to UC's." My one good friend is leaving very soon, so me and my friends are thinking to throw her a party.I froze at that time, since it was a girl.He said, "I also need to take her shopping, because she hates going alone. She always needs someone to help her choose her dresses. "I politely listened, and stayed quiet . Then he said, "Her boy friend lives in Oklahoma. So first she will fly there to see him, and then go to her UC."I said, "OHH."Then he said, "Her boyfriend doesnt like me because he thinks I am really close to her, which I am, but we are just best friends."Then I said, "Oh, do you like her or something."He said, "no, we are just close friends. Everyone thinks that we are going out, but I am just always there for her when she needs me."Then he started saying, "I don't have a girlfriend, I just have lot of friends." The last time I had a girlfriend was back in my country two years ago. I said, "Do you miss her?"He said, "sometimes, but that was the past.."I said, Oh."My house was almost there. He just said again, "I just always hang out with my friends, that's it. I don't have a girlfriend."I said, I see...."Then I thanked him twice for the ride and the snack, and said I will eat it right away. Now, does this guy have any kind of thing for me, or is it just my stupid imagination?Was Sam lying when he said that Neon talks about me a lot?Sorry this was so long. If I don't write out all these details, I don't feel like I completed the question. Thanks....

reader, anonymous, writes (7 August 2009): Wow, I can't believe I read the whole thing...but you wrote it well and it was very interesting how you put it together.You have a good memory and possibly a good imagination.I would say that a shy guy, because he is shy, will actually not show any interest because he thinks he doesn't want to make it too obvious to the girl he has his eyes on. It's counter-productive but shyness is like that.Why don't you, *nilka, ask him out? Neon likes you and you have now a full-blown crush, he can only say yes. He's gotten to know you, driven you home, given you gifts, does he have to spell it out?

well, he likes you..but he doesnt want to rush the friendship into the exclusive relationship. Now the question is :" are you willing to wait?"
If you are willing to wait for him, just hang on & enjoy the process..but if you are not, find someone else.
I understand some gals dislike to wait, but it's just fair, nothing's wrong with that..so, it really depends on you, actually. You hold the decision, girl ;)

 i think Neon may actually like you. He good at remembering things and he gave you rides, and a drawing. ask him sometime if he want to see a movie with you.
