hi,

does pulling out work when preventing pregnancy. We started with using condoms, but we usually finish a packet in a day and nowadays we don't bother using it, cause it kinda ruin the moment and we like to be spontenous and stuff. I was thinking of taking the pills, but i heard of the terrible side effects and if i decide to stop, the chances of me getting pregnant will increase. So my question is whether just pulling out enough? And about std, i'm sure he's clean and not sleeping around

Ok, so...im a little confused about something. Did you say taking the pill increases your chance of getting pregnant? IF so, its the other way around. Having the pill decreases your chance of getting pregnant. And if you don't like the pill there are other birth controls. You should ask your doctor. If you decide not to use anything then you are at a high risk of getting pregnant and STD's. Pulling out is not enough, he could be too late one day.

You should choose another birth control method. For withdrawal to work, you are trusting that

A. He pulls out in time and

B. that there are no leftover sperm in his urethra from a previous ejaculation, which can leak out in his pre-ejaculate.

It's like playing russian roulette with a couple of bullets already in the chamber. You might get away with it for a period of time, maybe even a long time, but it will eventually fail. Most people do not experience "terrible side effects" with the pill but your doctor can recommend alternatives if need be.

Good thing you two like being spontaneous - cause it'll be a real big surprise when you end up preggers! Though, to anyone with half a brain, pregnancy should come as no surprise at all when one forgoes the condom...

bemused agony auntHi hun

No..the withdrawel method is SO unreliable. Keep this up my dear and you WILL get pregnant, get an STD or both.

I am in full agreement with Emilyanswers...do not have sex until you have seen a doctor and discussed the many birth control methods available today. In addition to the pill, there is the devro injections which will help with the pregnancy issues but I would caution you, that in this day and age you need to use a condom EVERY time. The world is full of people and situations which you cannot immediately trust. YOU NEED TO TAKE CARE OF YOU.

A lot of guys do not like using condoms. It is understandable but if you are not in a long term committed relationship, you have a right to insist on it. This is your life and your health. If a partner does not care enough about you to honor your health and safety you should walk away.

hey hunni,

sorry to say but the pulling out method doesnt work as there is pre cum, you should go on the pill but if you do not want to go on the pill maybe because you are a forgetful person or yyou could have a coil inserted which i think lasts for about 3 to 5 years, when you say that you think he is clean and doesnt sleep around but he may have had other sexual partners and havent used a condom with them to, i strongly reccomend taht you both go and have an std as you have both had unprotected sex it would be for a piece of mind really

hope this helps x

Withdrawal DOES NOT WORK!!!!!

You will get pregnant if you do not use protection. Why do you think the birth rate fell so dramatically when the pill was invented in the 60's?!!

If the withdrawal method worked then everyone would just have been using that.

The pill can have side effects but they are not bad. One gae me headaches and spots, so I changed and I didn't get headaches or spots and my periods were much better for it.

Please get down to the doctors and get yourself on some form of protection. Also you need to get yourself checked for STI's. You may trust him but he may have silent ones like chlamydia and he wouldn't know.

Good Luck!! xx
