Well, honestly. I check up on people on facebook constantly, that aren't family.
Yeah I know, dorky but still it's a good way to catch up.
But, he may just think of you as someone he cares about, and not be into you, or he's checking up because he does.
Best way to actually check this out, is to ask...
Or at least look at the way he looks at you, or speaks to you, or acts around you.
