My last boyfriend was my first, we always used contraception so I am unlikely to have caught anything from him but am going to get a health test tomorrow to be certain.Anyway, the reason I am posting here is because I slept with my current boyfriend for the first time last night (again using a condom) but it was a little painful a few times, not all the time but especially in certain positions. I don't actually understand why, I was always careful with my last boyfriend so can't see how I could have picked something up from him, so I was wondering if size might be the reason- in terms of girth my current boyfriend is definitely larger. I hope this doesn't sound too stupid to be taken seriously, but I was hoping someone might have an explanation for this. Thank you.

We actually had a conversation about this a while back before and he even said he would get the test himself which surprised me; is it neccessary for him do this and is there a slight chance he would have something?

Women stretch, and after not having sex for a while (a year and a half, for example) they shrink, too.
Especially since you have only been with one man before your current boyfriend, it makes perfect sense that you may feel uncomfortable or even a little bit of pain, while in certain positions.
Something else to consider is how close you may be to beginning your monthly menstrual cycle. Just before and during a period, women are often a little swollen "inside". Sex in some positions can be a little more uncomfortable. Again, it is completely normal.
The prescription to being able to better accommodate your new man's size is practice, practice, practice. Enjoy! :-)

If your current bf is a lot larger than your ex and if you haven't had sex for quite some time then a bit of pain is not unusual.
However you should definitely go and get a health test, both to put your mind at ease and to protect your body. Even curable STDs can cause big problems for you if you leave them untreated for an extended period of time.
