He gives me compliments,i mostly catch him looking at me and we text alot...Am really trying restrict myself from liking him again cause i fear rejection again..But my friend tells me that the way he's acting shows he likes me :/does he like me or is it all in my head???

 He likes you. In what way I don't know. Usually when a guy says he is not ready for relationship it means he is ready for sex and nothing more. A year ago you would be too young for that. Maybe you are coming of legal age now so he is looking at you differently? You can talk to him again to see where his head is at.
