 ask him straight out....and then believe him...if he says he only likes you as a friend, then it mens for whatever reason he does not want anything more than friendship from you...it doesn't matter how much someone smiles at you or gives you mixed signals, if you ask them straight and they stick to their guns there is unfortunately nothing you can do...

 Its hard to say, he could genuinly only see you as a friend, and could be smiling at you because he thinks you are a great girl. Alternatively he could just be saying he only see's you as a friend to try to throw you off the scent, for whatever reason, i don't know maybe he is shy. I think you only option here is to ask him, at least this way you will know where you stand either way.

 Most people would say follow your heart, but to be quiet honest that doesnt always work out right for both parties. You say you have a crush on this guy and generally a crush is somthing that is situated with someone old and someone ypounger than themselves. My opinion would be that if yu really like this guy then time will tell and if it turns out that its the same for him then all is well. But if its a smile that says i like you and no one else can know is that really the sort of relationship you want to get into? May be he is shy. Strike up a conversation and get to know each other and see how things go. Good luck chick.
