I think that he just wanted the sex. You've only known each other 4 weeks, and it seemed to move very quickly. After 1 week of him being distant, I'd probably say that all he really wanted was sex, and now he's moved on.
I think that it's worth you trying to talk to him to see how he feels, and whether he wants to continue seeing you. But, if he says no, or continues to be distant, then you need to leave him alone.
