This method works best if its maintenance. Go to a Ear, Nose and Throat specialist if you can and NOT a General Practitioner.

I go to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist and he basically sprays this white stuff into the ear canal and it softens the wax up and then he uses a small metal pokie thing to scrape the wax out.
It sounds creepy, but it actually feels kinda pleasant. Like a slight tickle when the Doctor scrapes the wax out (carefully so as not to cause injury). The white liquid he sprays in there is cold so you get light headed for a few minutes and slightly dizzy. This is because the sudden change in temperature messes with your sense of balance they way spinning around does.
Overall, it is so much better than the whole Ear-Syringe thing.

If they are stopping up from earwax then what i've done before is gone to a doctor who used a very thin-holed syringe (sorry i dont know medical names for the things) and filled it with warm water, then flushing it into the ear, (NOT TOO FAR IN, OR YOU'LL DAMAGE YOUR EARDRUM!!) and that warm water (NOT HOT!!!) will soften the earwax. Also after once, use some earwax drops to soften it, then use the warm water to flush after you've given it some time for it to soften. Debrox works well and it's over the counter. After you've flushed your ear with water it's a good idea to get some antibiotic drops to prevent swimmer's ear which is possible and can be an infection from the water flushing. But then you should be okay.
