My Chemical Romance are not emo even gerard way (frontman of My Chemical Romace) has said that they band are not emo. MCR want to help save lives not destory them. MCR are against sucide not with sucide.

Emo can mean multiple things. It all goes on an indivdual opinion. Basically it refers to a sub-culture which is classified by "emo people" being emotional (emo, emotional, get it?). Sometimes the emo sub-culture will refer to music (MCR, Panic, FOB are all good examples of mainstream...Dashboard Confessional, Bright Eyes are more indie). Sometimes emo will refer to dress and hairstyle (think Pete Wentz and skinny-legged jeans,guys wearing girl's jeans). And sometimes emo will refer to the suicidal, loner types. It all depends on the individual definition.

 As I know it, "emo" is those who listen to the music as previously mentioned, and or are depressed by their own will, or act that way. Possibly suicidal (for show) and self-infliction of mental or physical pain.

 modern emo is an overused term. The main sterotype is people who dress similar to goths and cut themselves for many reasons

The also asscioations with bands such as My chemical romance, Fall Out Boy(who i love) and Panic! etc (i like all of these bands
Its hard to describe true EMO as the term is used just to describe those who may dress gothic, are over emotional or listen to certain music

 emo basically means you cut yourself you like to see blood it turns them on. and they like alot of really strong rock and goth music.you shouldnt hang out wth ppl like that at your age ruins your selfesteem and its depressing..

The mainstream bands such as My Chemical Romance (who are more goth-punk), Panic At The Disco who started out pop-punk and Fall Out Boy who are also pop-punk are not actually EMO at all. Bands such as Dashboard Confessional and Brand New are better examples of what EMO really is.
