Does anyone else find this odd?

Question - (11 August 2009) 1 Answers - (Newest, 12 August 2009)
A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I'm 23, my partner's 44, and recently he's been wanting to go out clubbing more and more.

My parents like him, they understand this is just a phase and that I have to experiment.

I just don't have the energy to do this ALL THE TIME!

He wants us to go out together EVERY WEEKEND, I want some nights in once in a while.

The relationship's good, but weird, I'm a legal adult, so it's not others business to worry about.

I'm trying to work hard and earn good money to ensure I can afford to rent my own flat [I live with my parents] but his attitude is proving tricky to deal with.

Isn't the situation a bit odd? I mean normally you'd expect it to be the other way round...

My partner's never been married or had children, and for some reason thinks partying is all he can live for - he even goes to Ibiza every summer!

Is that why his relationships with women never last - saying that ours has lasted for 18 months now!

I did discuss it with him, but he found the whole thing a joke... which it isn't to me!

Anyone able to help??

A reader, anonymous, writes (12 August 2009):

Hey honey, this really sounds like hes just trying to relive his youth and refusing to actually grow up and be an adult!

If it was a new thing i would say hes having a mid life crisis, but if its been going on forever, it sounds more like he's avoiding reality and living out a childish fantasy of beeing a teen/student again and again. Im sorry!
