Is that even possible? Or does a man have to 'release' every now and then? Because it cant be ignored and its to that point? Can anyone help answer this? Or is this controllable?

A reader, anonymous, writes (24 February 2011):

It is possible. I'm 27 and I go for 2 months without masturbation. It is possible to go even without wet dreams but it takes time and determination. I get a wet dream almost once per month, sometimes even longer.

It is definitely possible if you want to do it. If you are single, you have to renounce porn and not hang around girls who would flirt with you. Of course, that can happen on your way to work but not seek them out if you know this might happen. I'm dead serious. It takes some work. You have to focus your intent away from sexuality.

It is possible if you have a girlfriend as well. She needs to understand and support you, of course.

I'm sorry to say this but what doctors are saying is bullshit: you don't get healthy of you ejaculate 5 times a week, especially if you're past 30. It's the other way around: male sexual energy is like sa safety cache against disease. You may check out the principles of Taoism regarding semen retention.

So yes, it is possible, it won't kill you. I was always stronger and healthier when I did not masturbate / had lotsa sex.

If you put your mind on it, it can be done ;-)

LazyGuy agony auntIt is complete and utter bullshit.

And really, you never heard of the navy? How do you think they handle it?

Did the Apollo astronauts beat off with Houston monitoring everything? "Houston, we got ejaculation!"

Amazing that women still for blue-nuts in 2010.

A female reader, person12345 United States +, writes (28 May 2010):

person12345 agony auntNo, he doesn't. After a release it takes up to 72 hours before the sperm even fully "recover." It's natural to WANT a release every day or two, but any guy who says he NEEDS the release is just full of it. The worst that happens is he has a wet dream to refresh the sperm since from a biological standpoint, stale sperm are bad sperm. I don't know many guys who will get to the point of a wet dream before just masturbating. Admittedly my sample size is small (4 people) but all of them said even with a high sex drive it takes many days (sometimes weeks) to get to the point of a wet dream.

Gabrielle Stoker agony auntIf he doesn't masturbate, he'll have a wetdream. No harm done - but I do think it rather a waste to let it go that way.

A male reader, C. Grant Canada +, writes (28 May 2010):

C. Grant agony auntI was trying not to be crude, but maybe you need to hear something more explicit. If a guy doesn't have a girl to give him sexual release, he will either have wet dreams or he will masturbate. No guy ever died because he didn't have a girl. No guy ever died because his girl didn't get him off. He might be angry because you don't do things for him, but he's not going to suffer any damage at all. None. If you say now, he has to go and jerk off. No harm, no foul.

Be true to yourself.

C. Grant agony auntThe short answer is no.

If he's telling you that he'll suffer some terrible consequence if you don't help, he's telling you a story.
