as long as the guy realises he has issues and is wanting to work on them then there is no reason it shouldnt work. my boyfriend was very dysfunctional when we started going out and now he is the happiest I have ever seen him, and we are very happy. with regards to his family, you are not going out with them, you are going out with him, if they are good people it shouldnt matter, if they are bring this guy down with them, it is for him to decide if he wants to distance himself.
