In the beginning it was beautiful, but over the years our friendship and relationship deteriorated until the end where there was just too much bad to continue (loss of independence, balance, respect, support, trust). So he ended it and I let him go. Do you think one day he could come back? That after time, things could be better a second time?

Im sorry to say but I dont tink he will come back. If it was a long term elationship, maybe you need your distance, date other guys, wen he gets jealous, he'll be crawling back like a baby ;)

If you believe it can, the chances are quite high - but he may feel completely different or he may feel the same.
Some times peoples relationships are stronger and closer the second time around - as you've learnt from your mistakes. You obviously still have feelings for him, and I expect you are still in his thoughts - it is important you approach the situation slowly.
Try and rebuild your friendship up to how it originally was, get in contact - nothing will come to harm if you just catchup ! Theres no point sitting around waiting for it to happen, as the chances are it will (you'll bump into him in the street etc) but it will be too late for you to do anything - so get in touch!
