I like female friends pics just to pay a passive/aggressive compliment. I also commented under another friend's picture of her 12 year daughter that she looked "stunning" in her confirmation clothes too. Doesn't mean I like her at all, just means I wanted to pay my friend a compliment.
So yeah, it's impossible to say.
