It sounds to me like you are trying to justify doing your nails. If you enjoy it, then do them. Just don't expect your man to have the same love for your nails as you do.
To be honest though I'm not gunna love you or hate you just because of your nails. Its what's insideyou that is to make me happy with you.

Some men notice, some don't depending on who the man is. Most men notice other things before the nails, but it doesn't mean you should do them. What's more important is that you feel good about yourself. So if you're happy and confident, men will notice.

I also never notice earings or shoes. I have a weak sense of smell so I rarely notice perfune either.

 being a female myself, I am not too sure either... but all in all I'd say most males are not so detail oriented :)
Like all that expensive classy seductive lingerie most women love to wear for their partners... I have got the feeling that the average male can't tell 200 USD LaPerla underwear from a fig leaf- and they don't care anyway, since they are much more interested to the content than to the wrapping . I hope I am wrong, of course !

I know that loadsa guys think that those kinda of things scream high maintenance.
Anywho, I might be wrong. Although I'm sure that the guy would just be happy that you were "holding his goodies" in his first place. anyway so yeah, I don't think it matters. :)
