A female United Kingdom age 41-50, *dela writes:

My boyfriend has a lot of friends who are female. They have a close ralationship and keep calling and meeting up for coffees etc. Some of them may be in relationship some are married or single. He doesn't have any close male friends. I am quite jealous of his friends because I do not believe in relationship between male and female. Everythime I had male friend It was because I was after him or he was after me or we were both flirty with each other and kept it kind of open. Should I worry? Do relationships between different genders exist without expecting more from any of the parties?

A female reader, laurens New Zealand +, writes (14 December 2007):

i have alot of male friends.

now i am not stupid and do realise some men only want one thing from me. but some of my best friends are men whom i trust completely and have never experienced an ounce of sexual chemistry with.

i think that males and females can be friends but like any relationship you need to have the trust in him to make it work.

regardless of what the girls may want do you believe he would ever cheat.

because there are plenty more opportunities for him to do so if he is so inclined.

if he has had these friends since you met and he is up front about who they are and what they want and he has introduced you to them i dont think you have a problem.
