I am not sure if I am the cause of these problems or because the guy is actually not a nice person. This hasn't happened before (I was in a good relationship in college which ended nicely because of distance)So my question is - do normal, nice people become crazy vamps in relationships? And how do we get over that??

Yes some people do this. Take deep deep breaths before you open your mouth and calm yourself. Also try leaving the room if you feel like you are going to loose it and don't go back in until you feel in control.
If this relationship is not working for you then you must leave. Life is too short to waste being unhappy.
