writes:i met a muslim guy in oct and having been seeing him once a week as he works in a restaurant so very busy day and night. i very fond of him and he brought me a ring for christmas not a engagement a costume ring with crystal on and its silver very nice.i am a white person so i am unsure if its okay for us to date as i dont know much about there religion but im also friendly with uncle and wife and childen who brought a outfit to wear on eid bharak i have learnt a little abit there religon but worried incase im going to get hurt again i like him so he has told not to tell anyone i said you tell them when you ready and not before. do you think i relationship will grow and we can possible marrry or do they have to marry there own they want to take me to bangledesh in the summer but even unsure i should go ????

 NO! My grandfather is from a muslim family and my grandmother is a baptist christian. The biggest change she'd had to make is not eating pork. It does differ from family to family but if he loves you, he'd respect your religious freedom and see to it that his family does as well

reader, anonymous, writes (11 January 2010): it is preferred to marry another Muslim but its ok. But alot of questions will arise. Does he want u to revert(convert)? what about children? and if he isnt from the same country u r he may want u for permenant right. Just be careful, dnt gt hurt. :)

It varies from family to family but one thing for sure is that you would have to convert to Islam and possibly wear the Hijab (headscarf) and dress modestly (long skirt and sleeves) when around extended family members. The Bangladeshi are one of the more tolerant Islamic countries because of their proximity to India's Sikhs and Hindis. So they understand freedom of worship more than other Islamic areas. Just let him teach you and guide you. I have friends married to Muslims and their freedom is usually ok in their homes; maybe its because their husbands are loaded! Good luck
