A female reader, anonymous, writes (28 December 2011):

There are also the ones who`s childs mothers have to secretly make it so difficult that the father gives up and looks bad. I dont think a day will pass where some absent parents dont think about the child, let alone Christmas. My boyfriend has had his gifts returned but word has it he never even sent them a card.

it depends. some do, some don't.

some have moved on, remarried, had new kids and new families so maybe their new family is their top priority. Others don't feel that way.

N91 agony auntHard to say, like 'Iamheretohelpyou' said, it depends on the man.

My dad left us when I was about 5 years old, I'm 20 now and haven't seen him in about 8+ months. He does send cards on xmas and birthdays or what not, but he makes no effort to contact me and my brother and sister whatsoever. So in my case, I'd say he only thinks about us when he needs to do.
