The best ones are ones you wouldn't mind your family seeing, that way he can show you off to his friends and they could never be used against you.

I would really like to know what that means. If you mean specific body parts, why not send someone else's?
If it's YOUR picture, it does not have to be something someone expects. It can be cute, funny, emotional. It can celebrate your special jokes about the body, yours or his. It can be a temp tattoo shot really close. It could be drops of water on your body. It could be chocolate on your little finger that he sucked during some making out session. If you are creative about it, you need not go too far.... It's not only about him showing other people but also about leaving a porn trail on the internet for other, future partners or strangers.
We are not porn stars. We don't particularly think that is a aspirational profession to be in. So why would one try to be like them? Be yourself and celebrate your relationship. That way he may use the pic to get off with occasionally but he may attach some emotional value to it even if he is not horny. And, of course, he may think you are super cool for having thought of something original.
Oh, and his friends can't use it to get off.

Go as far as you want to. And also be aware he will probably show them to his friends, so don't go too far. You do what you want to, but don't be pressurized and don't go further than you feel comfortable with.
