Question - (7 March 2009) 1 Answers - (Newest, 7 March 2009)
A female Canada age 30-35, anonymous writes:

i've been dating my boyfriend for just over seven months, and i definatly love him. And he definatly loves me back. Although, one of my best guy friends was recently rejected, so i was trying to make him happy, and i knew he liked me before, but he kinda loves me now too.. but i didn't lead him on or anything..i can just be myself around him.. anyways, i like him back a little bit 'cause my boyfriend was being a really big jerk so i was hanging around my bestie more these days, and now he's really depressed cause he knows i like him, and that if me and my bf spilt he and i would probably go out, after a while obviously.. but that i'm head over heels for my boyfriend.. and i don't know if i should ditch my bestie cause he was just rejected by this other girl he really likes.. but i can't leave my bf for my bestie cause my bf is actually kinda jealous of how i am with my bestie and now he's like, you spend so much time with him, and not me.. what do i do?

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (7 March 2009):

You say you are not leading him on... but you completely and utterly are.

He knows you like him, he knows there is a small chance that you might be with him. You are "being yourself" around him so basically you are constantly showing him what he can't have.

If he loved chocolate would you keep waving bars around when he knew he was never allowed to grab and eat them?

If you want to stay with your boyfriend then you have to leave your mate alone for a while. Tell him it will never happen and give him some space to get over you.

Also, it's very disrespectful to your boyfriend to spend time with a guy that likes you. I don't care if he's depressed and rejected.

Imagine if your boyfriend started spending all his time with a girl who really liked him? You'd hate it.

The rules are that you can have male friends, but as soon as they start LIKING you, they have to be let go. It's just not fair on anyone.

Good Luck!! xx
