A male Aruba age 41-50, anonymous writes:

Is it possible that if you get more than you expect in life, you get depressed about it? It seems to me that something like this has happened to me. I feel ecstatic something and gloomy and sad at other times when i think that nothing much is left in my life. I am 26 years old guy engaged recently. Is there a hopeful way of seeing things?

hi i am 16 years old, i have bi-polar, and it sounds like me that you havent.from personal experiance i have times when i am hyperactive and unbearable... to others and even to myself, and times when i am so low that killing myself is the only way out of the manic-ness inside my head. to me it sounds like your being just a tad selfish looking for the easy way out and blameing it on a so called "disfunction" (which id like to point out its not). most people who have depression and particually those with bi-polar dont know what the hells wrong with them because for one they cant get there thoughts in order to figure it out. and also because if you have ever been that low to want to crawl out of yourskin and leave the empty shell behind its not something you would want to think- "hey i could be living with this for the rest of my life"... and therefor its not even worth contemplating.

rcn agony auntNope, you didn't mention having high levels, also known as mania

It's not what you receive, it's what you do with what you receive.

Aruba Anon. You seem to have a lot of good things going for you. You don't mention any bad things. Are there some problems you don't mention? We all often feel so blessed at times and don't know how we "deserved" it. Hey, we all "deserve" to be happy. Never feel guilty for that. Look at all the good things in your life and be grateful. Many never have a lot of happiness in their lives. It is not because they don't deserve to be happy. Life deals some bad things for no reason, sometimes. We can't understand it all now. Are you religious? Read some of the old prophets. Read Job. It is a long story and an old one, but it does have some good things in it. It does not explain everything, but it helps. You should try to be positive about life. You are engaged. You should think of your fiance's happiness, too. She cannot be happy if you are not. I don't know much about "bi-polar". I think you just have the same questions we all have. Best wishes. Tom

samohir agony auntIm not sure what you mean by NOT much left in my Life.I mean C'mon Ur just 26, In the peak of the youth! Have you seen everything you wanted? Have you been everywhere u wanted? Have you already done everything you ever wanted? Nothing left! I would try to beliave in the life after death and before life than! But dont think anybody has come back, so in the lack of evidence would take that we are given THIS HERE and i must admitt if you have managed to give, do and enjoy everything in only 26 years, ure than very LUcky MAn,and would seriosusly consider urself to be put in the Guinniss book of recoords!

But is It Realy like that? Ask urself more deeply, Is it?

May you have that so called "bi polar disfunction" as the therapist call, which in my opinon is very unappropriate term but nevermind about it.The way of solution is to make in function istead of disfunction, and the instict for death - life to be in right proportion. Now ur overwhelmed, unfortunately by the 1st one.

One American poet wrote once:

Not to tell in mournful numbers,

that life is just an empty dream!

For the soul is dead that slumbers,

And things are not what they seem

Surely there is more in Life, than We re just imagining somethimes to be!

The poet will countinue :

Life is earnesst! Life is real!

And the grave is not its goal;

Let us then be up and doing,

Still achieving, still pursuing,

With a heart for any fate...

Maybe you ll find urself somewhere in between....

Luck to You
